How To Get The Best Flight Training

I was first introduced to flying when I was a freshman in college.

I can remember the feelings of excitement and anxiety as the plane was getting ready to take off from Salt Lake City Airport to Virginia where we began our tour of American history sites. Luck was on my side as I obtained a window seat on the airplane, because, looking out the window, I got to see a whole new different world above the clouds.

As nighttime fell, the moon was shining bright and it fell like that I could reach out and touch the moon. Many years have come and gone as I have made many trips on the airplane to the Midwest, Southeast, and Eastern portions of the United States.
My heart belongs in the sky and it truly aches for it every day.
Here, I will give a little history of my journey on becoming a student-in-training helicopter pilot. I was listening to the radio as I journeyed home after the swing shift finished production for the night when I heard an advertisement for a flight school that was based in Idaho Falls, Idaho called Utah Helicopter. I listened with great interest because of the possibilities of earning a really good income as a pilot.
I did not have a paper and pencil in hand as the phone number was given, so I memorized the number, as I was frantically trying to find my cell phone.
I left them a message requesting more information on how I can enroll in flight school, so the next day; they called me and told me that they were holding an open house for the public on Saturday.
On that day, I was warmly greeted by the staff and flight instructors and then they proceeded to give a tour of the facilities and the aircraft they operated.

It was then that I had made up my mind that I wanted to become a helicopter pilot.

Getting ready to become a pilot is not an easy thing to do. There are certain requirements that I had to meet before I even started training.
Here, I will list some of these requirements for those who looking to become pilots. This is coming from firsthand experience: Make sure that you do not exceed the weight limit for the type of aircraft that you want to fly.
If it's the Cessna, get some basic information about the aircraft and its weight requirements for the pilot.
I know that the Robinson R-22 has a weight limit of 230 lbs.
This is the Helicopter that I am training in. Apply for scholarships and grants to pay for flight training.

Apply for loans as a last resource.

Going through flight school is not cheap. For me, tuition at Utah Helicopters is $80,000 to complete the entire program.
The FAA website can also give you listings for available scholarships for pilots in training. Once you are ready to go, be prepared to study every important lesson that the flight instructor will give you.

If this is the course you headed, this is my recommendation, that you buy the POH (Pilot Operating Handbook) for the type of airplane or helicopter that you want to fly ahead of time, so when the time comes, you will be prepared for the flight portion of the training.

The things that are taught in this book you will eat, sleep, and live by for the rest of your life as a pilot.

Do NOT take lightly or neglect any portion of the POH as it will save your life. To get a feel for the type of aircraft you will fly, purchase a flight simulator game. Many flight instructors will tell you that is how they first started out. Go to the flight school (airplane or helicopter) and get the information on what type of books you will need before you start ground school. That way you can come up with questions about a particular subject that you have studied about.
The plus side to this is that you will have an advantage when you start flight school.

This is just the beginning of what you will go through as a pilot-in-training. There is nothing that can compare to the thrill you will receive when you take control of your aircraft.
